women of L.A. (pt 1)

last month Jen welcomed me in her L.A. home

she spent a lot of time in her back yard dyeing pieces for her collection Ermie, whilst I explored the city

Jen is an inspiration, she is welcoming and warm and bright

& I feel that some of her optimist has stuck with me, now that I'm back in the UK

Utopian Poncho

the Modern Utopian Poncho is back!

you can chose from the diamond and the arrowheads pattern

every poncho will have a different patchwork collar just like last season

but this time I have included some of the block printed silks from my SS13

(I developed this fabric design alongside my printers in Rajasthan 

dabu print is a mud-resist hand-block printing, 

the cloth is first printed with a mud-like clay and then dyed with natural dyes)

burdock, and weird this was what first came to mind when you read my first memory that came to mind

second grade, someone throwing a handful of burrs in my hair, remembering that feeling of tangle, the noise they made transitioning from being stuck and being pulled out, standing by this water bank by myself getting burrs embedded in my fingertips trying to get them out of my hair, i think about this memory a lot, for some reason it's one of my favorite memories

a meal

could say so many things so just, for breakfast today: melted butter in cast iron, scrambled egg with crumbled rosepetal + a little grated apple + a pinch of salt, ate right out of the pan

a moon

just the moon, all its moons, all sides of the moon and all of it's moments, milk, egg, blood, hunger

The disused slate quarry on the summit of Castle Crag in the Lake District. We stumbled upon it last year whilst in search of local 'Professor of Adventure' Millican Dalton's cave. To quote Millican, "You can't feel lonely with nature as your companion"
